He will be welcomed to Jackson by Dr. Lonnie J. Edwards Sr., superintendent of Jackson Public Schools. Along with an inspirational message from Scott, the conference includes sessions on health and wellness, ways to volunteer in your child's school, the new process for funding college, and other beneficial sessions to help better educate and equip fathers to be actively involved throughout their children’s education.

A complimentary dinner will be provided. There is time for fellowship and to learn from one another and chances to win door prizes and other giveaways.

The annual conference is an outgrowth of the national WATCH D.O.G.S. (Dads of Great Students) Program begun seven years ago in JPS. Currently, 28 of 38 JPS elementary schools and 4 of 10 middle schools have participated in the WATCH D.O.G.S. Program since the program’s inception during the 2003 – 2004 school year.  JPS is expanding the WATCH D.O.G.S. Program and is actively recruiting fathers and father figures’ involvement from elementary through high school.

For more information, please contact Fredrick Nolan, coordinator of the JPS WATCHD.O.G.S. (Dads of Great Students) Program, 601-960-8878.
