June/July 2017 Issue

Letter From The Editor: June/July 2017

School’s out for summer! Well, almost. May means the end of another school year, with the promise of rest, relaxation, and summer adventure within reach. Sometimes it seems like our kids are out of school for five minutes before they start telling us they’re bored. Writer, Heather Tate, has done a lot of research on combating boredom and shares some great tips this month on how to get your kids to quit saying they’re bored.

I love a good festival. Live music, being outside, and of course, all of the great food make festivals a wonderful family activity. Tupelo boasts many special events during the months of May and June that provide the perfect weekend to get out and explore our fair city. Whether you’re an Elvis fan, love classic cars, or just want to hear some live music, Tupelo’s festivals have what you’re looking for. Check out some of my favorites in this month’s magazine. I promise no one in your family will say they’re bored!

May also brings Mother’s Day. I was blessed with parents who have supported everything I have ever wanted to do, so I love any opportunity to celebrate their unconditional love. I hope all of our readers are celebrated on Mother’s Day and have the opportunity to celebrate your mothers, not just May 14, but every day.

Happy Mother’s Day,

Jennie Bradford Curlee
