Distinctive Offerings within the District
Jim Mason, an administrator with the Hinds County schools, listed several high school initiatives that are now in place or will be in the fall.  These have a two-fold purpose: to encourage students who are high achievers to aim higher and to encourage those who might think about dropping out not to do so.  Included in his list are the following: Dual Enrollment with Hinds Community College for qualified students, Online Opportunities to enable students to catch up or recover credits lost, and the Mississippi State Scholars Program wherein business leaders encourage students to complete more challenging courses.
